Chapter Seventeen

The woman who Nadine rented the high rise from found out about the death that occurred at her place when she got back from vacation. She went out to the balcony and noticed the railing had been tampered with. She made a call to the London Police department.

“Could I speak with the person or persons investigating the recent death of a man who fell from a high rise.”

“Who is this please?”

“I’m the person who rented my apartment where the accident occurred.”

“One moment please.”

“Detective, I’ve got someone on the phone who has some involvement in the recent death from that high rise.”

“Transfer her to me.”

Morris got on the phone.

“This is Detective David Morris of the London Police. Who am I speaking to?”

“I’m Audrey Romanov. I rented my place to the woman who was staying there when the death occurred. Is she a suspect?”

“Do you have information concerning her?”

“Her name is Evelyn Nassar. Other than that, I’m afraid I don’t have too much information.”

“Do you have any contact info on her?”

“She was staying at a hotel before I rented to her. but I doubt if she’s there anymore. She said she would be traveling after I came back.”

“No information at all that would help us in our investigation?”

“Well, I noticed that the railing on the balcony was tampered with.”

“How is that?”

“There were some welding seams that weren’t there before I rented the place.”

“I’d like to come by and check it out.”

“You’re more than welcome to Detective.

“Is now a good time to take a look at it Ms. Romanov?”

“It’s Mrs. Romanov.”

“Sorry.”

“I’ve got to do some shopping. Could you come by in a couple hours?”

“No problem. I do appreciate your contacting us Mrs. Romanov.”

“You’re welcome detective; it’s the least I could do.”

“I’ll see you soon. Say three o’clock?”

“That will be fine Detective.”

He studied the photographs from the crime scene but saw noting he hadn’t seen before. Hopefully when he visited the apartment, he’d be able to put some pieces of the puzzle together and get some leads that would start providing some answers to this crime. He had a gut feeling that the killer was connected to the other two murders. He thought to himself, what Sherlock Holmes would do, but then realized that the great Holmes was just some imaginary character created by a fiction writer. He’d have to use his own brainpower, and right now all it gave him was a headache.
